Letter of family interest expresses pleasure at Lawrence's recovery; congratulations on birth of a son; "You need not have been so severe on the Salts as you were in your last, if you would but consider how much you are indebted to them ..." He doesn't approve of taking up large tracts of land so far back, "it is a ready way to keep your Self always behind hand." Warner Washington is to marry Betty Mason at the end of the month.

Lawrence Washington was the elder half-brother of George Washington, being the oldest living child of Augustine Washington and his first wife Jane Butler. Lawrence Washington was born in 1718, in Westmoreland County, Virginia.
